Tell us about yourself?

I’m a Minnesota native who, after spending 6 years away from the motherland, has decided to move back to Minneapolis and spend time re-exploring the city in between summers of swimming and winters of skiing.

What's your background?

I've been designing and developing websites since learning HTML/CSS in my first year at Purdue University. Since then, I've worked for and with a variety of companies before settling down with DWS.

What inspires you?

This Guy, these people, this magazine, and finally this gallery.

Has this job affected your skills?

Since starting at Dreamworld I've had the chance to hone my current skill-set and pick up new technologies and design experience.

Why is your job so interesting?

My job is awesome, I get to create and realize designs to be used by who knows how many people. I get to point someone online and say "I made that."

What personal and work characteristics are important to have with your job?

A thick skin to handle design critiques and the patience to develop cross-platform sites.

What's the best thing about working at DWS?

Its awesome to be working with other talented and passionate people.

What's a typical work day like for you?

A typical work day for me is a mash-up of design, and development while mixing in some research to stay current on emerging trends in design and technology.

How important is it to be multi-skilled, for example to know the programming as well as the design?

The web is inherently multi-disciplinary, so to be an effective web designer I need to position myself at the intersection between complicated technical requirements and creative social communication.

What's your dream project?

I am hoping (maybe in vain) that I will get the chance to use HTML5 and CSS3 on a professional, widely distributed project within my lifetime.
