Tell us about yourself?

I would consider myself “The Quiet Beatle” more of a George Harrison than a Lennon or McCartney even though I'm a jokester by nature.  My true passions in life are writing and travel although as of recently I haven't been doing too much of either, but that will change. Additionally music is my life. In a typical day I'll have music on for at least 10 hrs or more almost like soundtrack for my everyday tasks. Strange, maybe. Eccentric definitely.

What's your background?

During my 8 years in the industry I've worked in various factions of the industry both freelance and in house.  During that time I've had the opportunity to work in many different facets of the industry ranging from school districts, government agencies and numerous production houses around the Twin Cities. Each unique experience has helped me gain the skills that have made me the videographer I am today.

What inspires you?

My true inspiration comes from music, writing, art and the cinema.  At this juncture in my life I've found a lot of inspiration in French films especially the works of Jean-Pierre Jeunet. However, first and foremost my cinematic and creative inspiration comes from Stanley Kubrick.

What's it like working at DWS?

It's an experience, what else can I say? Everyday tends to be a little different than the last and you never know what new opportunity is going to present itself.

Has this job affected your skills?

Before I took this job I had a strong set of production skills, but a lesser emphasis on post-production. During my time here I feel that my post-production skills have improved dramatically, but you can never stop learning.

Why is your job so interesting?

I think what makes my job interesting is the many different projects I get to work on. It's amazing to me how much knowledge I've gained from working on all the different projects throughout the years.

What personal and work characteristics are important to have with your job?

The most important personal and work characteristics to have with any job in my opinion is hard work, honesty and open communication.

What's the best thing about working at DWS?

I would have to say the best thing about working at DWS is the opportunity to travel to different places and work on new projects. During my time at DWS I've been given the opportunity to travel to many places that I'd never been to before.

What's a typical work day like for you?

It really depends on the week, I'm a jack of all trades but most of the time you can find me shooting and or editing commercials, training videos, etc. If I'm not busy doing one of the aforementioned tasks you can find me working on various training modules to further improve and hone my skills.

How important is it to be multi-skilled, for example to know the programming as well as the design?

I think it's extremely valuable to be multi-skilled in all aspects of video and design. Since we are a smaller company there is a lot of blending of the departments.  It is not uncommon for people from the video production side of the house to work on interactive projects and vise versa.  Thus a working knowledge of all aspects is basically a necessity.

What are your future goals?

My future goals are continue to improve my skills and artist abilities, which will in turn will make me a better videographer.

What's your dream project?

My dream project would be to work on a historical documentary of the countries of Europe. I would love to spend an extensive amount of time in Europe documenting all aspects of European life from architecture to culture.

My Favorite Links

The Mighty Boosh Grab a glass of Baileys (mmm creamy) and relive the legend of "Old Gregg", Howard and the cost of Funky Freedom. This site contains everything that's good just like "Old Gregg's Place". I suggest you check it out or I'll deal with you the way I dealt with Curly Jefferson.

BBC Radio 1 The website for my favorite radio station right now. This is where I keep up with all the new music coming out of the U.K. and around the world. My music library has probably doubled since I started tuning into this station. Check it out on Sirius Radio you will not regret it.

Adult Swim Whenever I need a good laugh or to play an online game (or both at the same time), I check out this site. If you're familiar with Adult Swim then you know the humor is a little twisted, but still hilarious. If you do check out the games on this site I recommend Orphan Feast or Bible Fight.

Red DwarfIf you like British Comedy, SCI FI, holograms, robots, cat people and basically any other crazy combination you can think of than join the last surviving human Dave Lister on the mining ship Red Dwarf. Off the wall humor that will either make your sides spilt with laughter or make your head hurt because your dumbfounded by the plot. Either way check it out.

FunziA little family history here and also where I got one of my many nicknames. Everybody got a little history behind their family and mine is no exception, well oh course not everyone has a former crime boss as a cousin. Don't tell anyone though unless that is if you want to be fitted with a pair of cement shoes…
