Tell us about yourself?

My role as executive producer at DWS is to take care of "issues" for our clients and to help communicate their needs to our production team. I am also the oldest person here and enjoy the mix of creativity and new ideas which makes everyday something different and exciting.

What's your background?

I worked as a professional photographer for 30 years in the field of architecture and interior design. In 1994 I took a job as the marketing director of a telecommunications manufacturing company based in Hong Kong.

Ten years ago I came back to Minnesota and worked for an ad agency in St. Paul before joining DreamWorld Studios in 2003.

What inspires you?

Because of my background I have an interest in quality design and visual excellence. There is an interesting mix of both of these elements at DWS which keeps me inspired throughout the business week. I enjoy the process of working with our customers and getting to know them as we work together. The other inspiration in my life is home and family which bring balance and keeps me sane.

Why is your job so interesting?

The variety of projects and clients makes every day different.

What personal and work characteristics are important to have with your job?

A sense of humor and taking care of our customers creates a perspective that minimizes stress and builds a positive feeling of accomplishment at DreamWorld. Meeting and then exceeding client expectations is the best.

What's it like working at DWS?

Everyone who works here is gifted and together they help me with the challenges I face taking care of our customers; it is a real team effort. In my earlier career I was usually working alone with my customers but now I have many more tools and our capabilities keep expanding. It is a dynamic environment and a day to day learning experience that keeps me growing and wide awake.

Has this job affected your skills?

There is no doubt that working at DreamWorld has challenged me to expand my expertise in the video, multimedia and Internet arena. With the DWS team of professionals I have a great opportunity to learn and observe from the DWS team on a day to day basis.

What’s the best thing about working at DWS?

Working in a place that takes our creative efforts seriously but limits the egos while encouraging teamwork.

How important is it to be multi-skilled, for example to know the programming as well as the design?

I  count on our production team to handle the programming and design. My long experience has given me a eye for quality design and my people skills are a big part of the equation and makes me feel that I an important part of the team. All of the production team are multi-skilled which allows them to step in and handle whatever is needed.

What is a typical work day for you?

Trick question, there is no such thing at DWS.

What are your future goals?

To help make DreamWorld Studios a name synonymous with quality and innovation.

What's your dream project?

Fly fishing in Montana but until we find the client who demands my expertise I would welcome a chance to develop a project with the DWS team that would encompass a historical perspective spotlighting accomplishments in photography and art. Linking the creative process that is shared by the people who have achieved success in these fields.
