Tell us about yourself?

I'm a friendly Midwest kind of guy, who grew up here in Minnesota.  I love working with my hands to design and create anything, from tables to props to costumes, to puppets.  That's why I think I fell right into my creative career.  Enjoying a good laugh is what I'm all about, so you'll generally see me smiling. "Sometimes you have to throw the sandwich." -- BFF

What's your background?

I'm pretty much fresh out the college gates where I ran a student interactive team and television station; along side my own personal video/web business.  I've been doing this stuff for over 6 years now and I wouldn't take back a second of it.

What inspires you?

My parents inspire me to be who I am.  They are a constant reminder to have an open mind, be kind and honest and that being nice is way better than being mean.

What's it like working at DWS?

Awful….ly amazing!  I love working with the people here, who are funny and talented.  We have a younger group that can bounce ideas off one another and always come up with something better.

Has this job affected your skills?

Yes, I've been able to further myself here a lot.  When I started here I had no After Effects experience and now I am more than proficient.  I'm constantly learning new tricks and shortcuts to come up with better ideas and products.

Why is your job so interesting?

The people here are always pushing themselves to become better.

What personal and work characteristics are important to have with your job?

Teamwork is really important because the more minds you work with the more creative ideas you can come up.

What's the best thing about working at DWS?

I really have to say it's the environment.  The people make the difference here.

What's a typical work day like for you?

I live and breathe editing most of the time, while occasionally helping out the interactive crew.  And then sometimes having intellectual conversations with my computer, like what does error code 4hd88hhdhekfdk99332 mean?

How important is it to be multi-skilled, for example to know the programming as well as the design?

This is extremely important because my job is basically half and half.  Sure I have to cut the video together but motion graphics and green screen don't just create themselves either.

What are your future goals?

I'm just striving to better myself in every way right now.  Ok, a little too vague huh?  Then I guess I'll say I want to start some kind of foundation to help people.

What's your dream project?

Right now I'd love to work on a huge motion graphic commercial, something completely animated and highly stylized.
