Tell us about yourself?

Combine Drew Carey, the kid who played Ben on the show “Growing Pains” and “Ralphie” from Christmas Story, put a can of Diet Coke in their hand and you've got a pretty good idea what I look like.

What's your background?

I started out producing television news in Duluth, MN, Madison, WI, and Minneapolis, MN.  From there I took advantage of a great opportunity to work for a production company that did programming for Food Network.  (I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country.)  I moved on to work for another production company in Madison, WI before eventually settling down and joining the DWS team.

What inspires you?

To hear a client say, “That's perfect.  That's exactly what I want.”  That's what inspires me.

What's it like working at DWS?

It's like being stuck at Lego Land with a group five-year olds… there's an amazing amount of creativity and energy.

Has this job affected your skills?

It has forced me to get out of my comfort zone.  For years, all I dealt with was video.  Now there is this thing called the, how do you say, the Internet.  All joking aside, we've got the most talented video production and interactive departments around.  I've learned more in my short time here than I ever did in college.

Why is your job so interesting?

Almost everyone I work with is an artist in their own way.  How could spending 8 hours a day with highly creative minds not be interesting?

What personal and work characteristics are important to have with your job?

I have to be detail oriented to do my job.  At any given time, I've got my hands in five or more projects.  That includes everything from scripting to location scouting to client relations.

What's the best thing about working at DWS?

It's a great team here.  I've never worked with a more creative and talented group of individuals.  Also, DWS throws one heckuva Holiday party.

What's a typical work day like for you?

See below.

How important is it to be multi-skilled, for example to know the programming as well as the design?

Not really important to me.  Since I have no real skills, it's hard for me to be multi-skilled.  That's not true.  I love the fact that every day is different.  At 10:00am I could be in a meeting with a potential new client.  At 11:00am I could be deep in writing a script for a new television commercial.  Then at 2:00pm I'm off to do a location scout.

What are your future goals?

I have two future goals.  Number one, I want to continue to grow the client list here at DreamWorld Studios.  Number two, I want to open up Vaske's Wine and Spirits.  (When that happens, DreamWorld Studios will definitely do my web page and television commercials.)

What's your dream project?

My dream project would be to work with any potential client taking a look at this website.  Here's the sales person in me… if you are looking for any web, video or any interactive media projects, just give us a call!

TODD'S Corner

Currently listening to

I wouldn't say current is the correct term.  I'm stuck in the 80s.  I love most hair metal bands.  Currently playing on my Ipod is Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue.

On the weekends I'm...

On the river or lake kayaking with my wife or I've got my butt planted in front of the tv rooting for the Twins.

Current watching

I don't miss an episode of The Office. Dwight Schrute and Creed Bratton are the two best characters on television. (And yes, we have a Creed and a Dwight in our office but I won't reveal their identities.)

Favorite Holiday

You haven't lived until you've experienced a Vaske Thanksgiving.  I'm telling you, it's the greatest day of the year.  There are people who show up that we don't even know.  It's quite an event that can’t be explained with words.  You're all invited!

Favorite Hobbies

I love to cook. Anyone have a good fish recipe I can do on the grill? I still haven't found one I like. (Please no salmon or halibut recipes)
